Bubblemaps Investigates: Crypto KOL Moves Onchain
Plenty of crypto KOLs genuinely want their followers to do well. Some don’t. Bubblemaps has recently investigated four influencers whose wallets tell a different story from their timelines. Here is what the on-chain data showed.
Kimchi
PumpFun recently onboarded the KOL "Kimchi". A rumor surrounded him saying he made $40M on $TRUMP, but nobody had verified it, and other KOLs happily used the story as marketing.
Bubblemaps identified one of his public giveaway wallets and found a cluster of previously hidden wallet connections. The estimated $TRUMP profit from those wallets is around $6M. That is still a lot, but far from $40M. It additionally raises questions of why he hid it.
KOLs rarely hide such a fortune, so why does he?
Solstice
Solstice rose to fame after having reached top 3 on FOMO's leaderboard. He was up $5M on his $STONK position. Since then he's been pushing out numerous meme coin promos to his 200K followers on X ($STONKINU, $BOP, $QUEEF, $HEV to name a few).
We found that these tokens all followed a similar pattern of bundling:
- Dozens of fresh wallets
- Buying at similar times
- Each wallet holding 0.5-1% of the supply
We also traced Solstice's public wallets right back to the deployers of these tokens. Additionally we saw that there was an attempt to cover the trail using thousands of intermediary wallets. Solstice's public wallet was showing -70k, while his connected side wallets are up $270k.
Anglio
Former construction worker gone memecoin influencer. We investigated his movements and found that he buys from side wallets, followed by his public wallet, and finally post about the token, telling his followers to buy.
We analyzed 534 of his posts from October leading to the discovery of 5 wallets closely connected to Anglio.
The wallets:
- bought before 61% of his calls
- ⁓20 seconds ahead on average
- sold a few minutes later
The estimated profit is $130k. Anglio has admitted using these methods.
0xEthan
Ethan has around 88k followers on PumpFun, whom he regularly shares new token callouts to. We received a tip from an anonymous source urging us to look into Ethan's callouts and habits.
The tip got us curious and we looked further into it. We used his last 49 token calls to map it all out and we found that Ethan has a tendency of selling within just three minutes after serving the call to his followers. Three minutes.
Here's the pattern, black on white:
- Ethan's public wallet buys
- Three secret side wallets buy in the same second
- He does a callout on PumpFun
- The wallets sell
In multiple cases, he had already begun selling while still posting about why you should buy it. We estimate that he's made about$125,000 this way, with $45,000 from the trades, $80,000 from PumpFun callout rewards.
That's a wrap for now. If you enjoyed reading this, make sure to subscribe to our newsletter if you haven't.
